Snuggled up beside my feet
my furry friend does sleep:
tired from his escapades
he doesn't stir a peep.

But when I look down to see
if my pal is awake,
he stretches his little paw
as if he wants to shake.

Smiling, I grasp his foot
and give a gentle tug;
then onto my lap he leaps
for a kiss, pet, and hug.
